Don’t Sweat Fire Damage. SERVPRO of Charlottesville Handles Cleanup, Remediation, and Restoration.
For the final week of Fire Prevention Month, here’s an important reminder: while residential fires are surprising to the homeowners, most house fires are preventable. The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) notes that most such fires start in the kitchen and urges people to focus on cooking rather than attempting to do several things at once. If a fire does surge in your Charlottesville-area home, SERVPRO® of Charlottesville is always Here to Help® remediate the damage before it becomes permanent. We’re an area leader in restoration services; when you need us, you’ll find out why.

Homeowners often find it difficult to imagine that their soot-stained or water-damaged belongings will ever look like they did before a fire roared through the house. Our highly trained franchise professionals at SERVPRO of Charlottesville know how to clean up structures, flooring, carpets, dishes after a fire. We work to restore your house and belongings (that is, your home) to their preloss conditions. Losses may come from the flames themselves, smoke, water, or other harmful substances; we have the training and equipment to handle it all.
If you don’t know how thoroughly we can restore a fire-damaged house to the home it used to be, check out the most recent Before and After Photographs from our website. We document all our work for you and your insurance company; this documentation is also valuable to our clients, so we make it available to everyone.
An Ounce of Prevention and Other Clichés, Courtesy of SERVPRO of Charlottesville
- “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”
- “Better safe than sorry”
- “Safety is no accident”
- “Raining cats and dogs”
Okay, the last one doesn’t fit with the first three, but we just wanted to throw it in anyway.
The point of the clichés, at least the first three, echoes the findings of the NFPA that most residential fires are preventable. Even most non-residential fires are preventable.
Because Halloween is coming up, our SERVPRO of Charlottesville team took a moment away from restoration and found these fire-safety tips for a non-terrifying (but still spooky) Halloween.
- Use battery-operated lights or glow sticks instead of candles
- Many decorations catch fire easily, so keep them away from open flames and other heat sources (such as light bulbs)
- Don’t wear costumes that have long, trailing fabric
- Keep exits clear of decorations, so nothing blocks escape routes
- Make sure all smoke detectors and alarms are working
- Don’t multi-task in the kitchen!

Trivia
Langtree Park, a rugby league stadium, got rid of its unexciting name and became Totally Wicked Stadium. The original name kept you located, but it lacked a certain “oomph.”
